FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

I am currently using a room for counselling at Frontline Church in Sylvan Lake, AB. It is located at #5 Beju Industrial Drive, Sylvan Lake AB T4S 2J4, Canada

How do I pay for therapy sessions?

I accept cash, e-transfer, or credit card. Payment is due at the end of each session.
I never want finances to be a barrier to anyone getting help, so please ask me about a sliding scale if that is needed.

Can I use my insurance?

Most insurance companies accept my credentials as a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), however some policies require the use of a psychologist. Please check with your insurance provider to ensure Counselling Therapists are approved, and if so, how many sessions are covered per year.

What does a typical session with you look like?

When you first walk in I’ll be waiting for you in the foyer. I’ll likely offer you water or tea and then we’ll head to a private room where we’ll talk for about an hour. You can come prepared with an idea of what you want to talk about and goals you want to work on or I can lead by asking gentle questions to prompt you.

I will likely tell you about the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach I use and how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are all linked, affecting us as a whole. You are free to share as little or as much as you feel comfortable with and together we’ll identify what thoughts or feelings aren’t helping you. I’ll offer you some tools, and we’ll brainstorm solutions to help you get unstuck and fill you with hope again.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, we can meet through a confidential platform using the Jane app. You will be sent a video link upon booking. However, when it’s possible, I’d prefer to meet in person for the first session to build rapport and then move to online if desired.

How many sessions are needed?

The recommended number of sessions is between 6 and 12. I find each client is different and so it will depend on your personal goals and willingness to engage in the change process between sessions.

Do you do Christian Counselling?

I am a strong Christian and believe in a biblical approach that engages the power of the Holy Spirit in our sessions. That being said, I have the utmost respect for where you are on your own personal faith journey. I always start by discussing what approach you prefer me to use with you.

Do you do marriage counselling?

No, I don’t. For couples therapy, I would highly recommend checking out the following Marriage Counsellors:

When can we have sessions?

I am flexible and will work to accommodate your scheduling needs. I am typically available from 10-5 on weekdays and can be available some evenings. I am not available on weekends. Please text me to see when my openings are (587-876-5775).
